AGS offers a variety of technical sessions as well as educational training at the AGS Annual Conference. Below is an outline for the 2007 Education Training Seminar.
ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE
Materials
Attendees will learn about material and fabrication criteria for quality glovebox construction.

Inert Atmosphere
Inert gas environments are critical for multiple containment applications as well as working with moisture and oxygen sensitive products. Achieving an inert environment can be accomplished many ways. This class will discuss these methods as well as instruments available to monitor the environment.

Why Windows Break
Proper determination of function to establish glass material choice, correct handling, glass preparation, packaging, shipping and installation of all glass window products to reduce the risk of damage and breakage.

Glove Material Compatibility
Selection of glove material based on process operations, ergonomics and design life requirements.

Coatings
Coatings, materials and application techniques will be discussed.

Leak Testing
Leak testing methods prove the integrity of a confinement system. This class addresses the various leak test technologies, detection limits and acceptance criteria.

Fire Suppression
Attendees will gain knowledge on design safety and application of different fire suppression systems for glovebox applications.

Commissioning
Course participants will learn how best to implement startup/commissioning techniques for any type of glovebox operation. A commissioning checklist will be reviewed in detail during this course.

BASIC COURSE
Theory of Containment
Basic containment principles, including primary barrier concepts, components, controls and air handling systems

Glovebox Design
Learn the proper elements for developing a successful glovebox design using sound engineering and scientific practices.

Ergonomics
Knowledge of human abilities and limitations to design and build for comfort, efficiency, productivity and safety.

Fabrication
Requirements and considerations for design, construction & decommissioning a glovebox.

Installation & Operation
Course participants will learn how best to install a glovebox safely and implement startup/commissioning techniques for any type of glovebox operation. A commissioning checklist will be reviewed in detail during this course.

Procurement
This course addresses the pre-contractual, construction and acceptance stages of procurement activities.

Quality Assurance
This course will focus on the importance, criteria and implementation of a quality assurance program.

Hands-On Training
Actual demonstration of glovebox transfer port operations bag-in and bag-out techniques. Glove change-out and HEPA filter change-out by a qualified instructor. Course participants will be given the opportunity to perform these activities under qualified supervision.
